It’s Father’s Day today as well as church for us. God has sons & daughters, I have a son & daughters. So its like a double serving or helping of a good thing.
My children are becoming less like children & more like adults. That is the aim of being a good parent but in the process it also makes things more difficult or challenging, but in the end a rewarding fruitfulness instead of a reckless life that might amount to nothing.
I have had my feet in both camps, a total waste & bearing fruit & even good parenting doesn’t always produce good fruit. Sooner or later we develop an individuality based on many things.
But that shouldn’t stop us from being our best for our children, giving, guiding, listening, speaking, saying yes, saying no & saying wait in this often impatient world that has all its priorities upside down. And in this God gives us confidence & joy as we struggle in our tasks. One of the great things about church is it is like getting to see God face to face. The loving Father that delights in His children.
1 John 3:1. See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
