Word beneath our Wings

How lovely is your dwelling place, LORD Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar, LORD Almighty, my King and my God. Psalm 84:1-3.

Enclosed church buildings with a bit of age would more than likely experience pigeon’s that poo than swallows nesting where I live. We do get dive bombing plovers that nest in the church yard & for some reason some wood ducks like to poo on the concrete pathway, so feathered creatures are not so highly esteemed by those entrusted with church maintenance. But here you have it in the inspired words of the Psalmist, a small swallow makes its home near God who really does care about the little things as much as the big. Swallow 1 vs Church Committee 0.

Yes, God is everywhere all of the time but Christians are not, & we too are purpose built & purpose called to live in community & family. In Christ we are set free to enjoy our redeemer & maker for all eternity…free as the birds, free to love & serve God growing in the fulness of His Word.
